Will the New York Times retract its Israelis Train Dogs to Rape Palestinian Prisoners piece that appeared in the paper on Monday?

It was written by columnist Nicholas Kristof about how sexual abuse of prisoners has become systemic in Israeli prisons.

The specific “dog rape” allegation was made by an unnamed Gaza journalist, detained in 2024. He described being held down, stripped naked, blindfolded, and handcuffed while a dog was summoned. According to him:

“With encouragement from a handler in Hebrew, he said, the dog mounted him. ‘They were using cameras to take photos, and I heard their laughs and giggles,’ he said. He tried to dislodge the dog, he said, but it penetrated him.”

There is so much wrong with this piece that in a fair world the answer is yes, the New York Times would apologize and remove the piece. Actually, in a fair journalistic world the opinion piece would never have appeared at all.

I say this not because I have some special knowledge about whether it is definitively true or false (although there are a number of assertions and sources about the wider sexual abuse that don't stand up to the slightest journalistic scrutiny. And there are a number of scientific reasons why the dog rape story is fake - I’ll spare you the details except to say there is something about dog anatomy that makes it very unlikely.)

No, the reason I say that the piece should NEVER have appeared is because if it is true (as Nicholas Kristof apparently believes it is) then it should have been printed as a news story. It’s such an amazing story - a historic story that if there is evidence to stand it up then it should have been on the front page in bright bold headlines - there should be multiple reporters working on it.

There should be follow-up after follow-up - but nothing. The New York Times just carried the account, buried in an opinion piece, and have not had any reporters follow up with the anonymous source to see if he wants to go public. Also, why has no evidence or whistleblower come forward? Who trained the dogs? Why has no one broken ranks from the guards to reveal the horror going on behind the prison walls? For rape dogs to exist - there would have to be hundreds if not thousands of people to know about them and remain silent. They all have a story to tell but no one is following up on that. There is no curiosity, and when journalists are not curious about a story, we know it is because they do not like where the curiosity will lead them.

In a fair world, there should be an apology and people should lose their jobs. This is a nasty, vicious, anti-semitic demonization of Israel and the Jewish people. People may die because of these lies. However leftists and the New York Times don’t live in a fair world. They live in their twisted world and they want us to believe and conform.
