At Home With The Trump Assassin
How To Get To Gramercy Street

Gramercy Avenue in Torrance has seen huge changes over the decades.
It started off as a working-class neighborhood - home to the likes of Olympian and WWII hero, Louis Zamperini.
In the last few decades this part of Torrance, a suburb in Los Angeles, has gone upmarket. I know Gramercy Avenue well. My paternal grandparents lived on the street and some of my aunts and uncles still do. My first-grade teacher was also a neighbor.
I was allowed to go trick or treating there alone because it was considered safe.
However on Saturday night 1915 Gramercy Avenue seemed anything but safe as it gradually became the center of a major militarized police operation.
It turned out that 1915 Gramercy Avenue is the home of the latest (alleged) would-be Donald Trump assassin.
I was shocked to hear that Cole Allen lived in Torrance, especially so close to my home.
After figuring out where he lived I was there before the police, looking at this normal looking middle class home trying to divine clues that would help me understand why a teacher from Torrance would end up trying to assassinate the President thousands of miles away in DC.

The house is well maintained. It was built in the1990s standing out from the early 20th century houses that dominate the street. According to public records it last sold in 2005 for $575,000. Zillow estimates it is now worth $876,900.
It looked like the home of a moderately successful family ($876,000 only passes for moderately successful in Los Angeles these days). There were two cars in the driveway and an electric scooter on the well-mown lawn.
The only feature that made the house stand out was that the windows were all dark or blocked. Even the garage windows were covered with reflective material, and there was black fabric covering every piece of glass.
Reporters and nosy locals all gathered outside the house before the police and later FBI arrived.
There were definitely people inside but knocks on the front door went unanswered.

Dylan Wakayama (22) was there. He runs a non-profit organization called Asian American Civic Trust and knew students who had been tutored by Allen at the Torrance location of C2 Education where he made “Teacher of the Month” in December, 2024.

“He was rather intelligent…. and tutored them in the fields of biology, math, science, some of them their whole family knew[him],” he said.
Wakayama said students had been sending him text messages since the news broke.
“None of them really suspected anything was wrong with him. They said he was kind of a nice, quiet guy. So really I guess the question is what changed between their testimony and potentially what happened tonight?” Wakayama said.
Then the police and FBI arrived. We were put behind a police cordon and a swat team stormed the house. It was obvious we were not going to find answers at the house but perhaps the answers don’t lie behind the covered up doors and windows of 1915 Gramercy Avenue.

Perhaps the answers to the Cole Allen mystery was under the tables at the Hilton Hotel in Washington DC. Journalists filmed themselves frightened and shocked as they hid from the bullets. It’s understandable that they were frightened. But it’s a mystery why they were shocked. What did they think would happen when they kept comparing the most powerful man in the country to Hitler? Did they not think that angry or disturbed young men pumped up on moral certitude and righteous anger would conclude that the moral thing to do is to kill Hitler?
Why would mainstream journalists be surprised that someone would try and assassinate President Trump when they have normalized what was once taboo. They have downplayed or even blamed President Trump for the other attempts on his life.
This is how NBC’s Lester Holt described the second attempt to kill Trump.
“Today’s apparent assassination attempt comes amid increasingly fierce rhetoric on the campaign trail as Mr. Trump and his running mate JD Vance continue to make baseless claims about Haitian immigrants in Ohio.”
The men who tried to kill Trump at Butler PA and Florida during the campaign should be household names. They should be infamous. We should know everything about them. I bet you have to Google their names. The mainstream media lionize Luigi Mangione who assassinated an innocent health insurance executive and downplay those who want to kill the President. And they act shocked when bad people pay attention.

Not being pedantic but that’s a Yamaha Vino. The cable is attached to a lock on the disc brake. They’re old and fairly cheap compared to an EV scooter so definitely not a yuppie household. Also it must be a low crime area if that’s the only lock on the bike.
Let this be a reminder. What is being called science, inappropriately, is not competent at establishing proper settings of the human moral compass.
I have been subject to the most extensive, most thorough, most complete, most dogmatic teachings of a man who wrote a very, very long time ago, Thomas Aquinas and I have lived now into my ninth decade in this bag of bones equally steeped in the most detailed, thorough, authoritative, serious and difficult theoretical physical and biological and psychological and sociological sciences. None of it has made me a better, or a worse man. And I cannot and will not have any truck with Thomism. It is a mind-game played in the long past as part of the transition from superstition and magic and is well past its use-by date.
I function believing, hoping and loving while staring at tomorrow utterly ignorant about it. I function as a spiritual being within a reality which is like a two-sided coin, in a created reality which is only very partially perceptible and spinning all the time presenting the material and spiritual aspect of reality necessarily blurred.
Thomas was told by the angel in the form of a little girl that his striving was as vain as the task it was modelling, taking a little water from the sea and pouring it into a hole in the sand with the intent of putting the whole sea in the hole. He got it. He willed his writings to be destroyed.
Alas, they were not.
